98 hatch cheap VTEC conversion
He guys I've got an automatic (i really want to convert it to manual) 98 ek civic dx with the D16Y7 and I just bought a Z6 head and A6 intake manifold going to just bolt it to my Y7 block! What else do I need? Z6 dizzy, Z6 engine harness from an automatic, and Z6 ECU from automatic... Is there anything else?

Re: 98 hatch mini me swap?
What exactly is a mini me swap? Idk what to call it, for a VTEC head on non-V block! That's why the post is titled with a ? Lol. I'm new to forums and Honda lingo but I know a little bit about a lotta bit. Make sence?

z6 engine harness is a 2 piece, you need a 1 piece harness from a 96-00 civic. im fairly certain that the auto trans in your car will not function on a y8 a/t ecu. the z6 head will work, but you need to use a y8 distributor, or the z6 with a jumper harness so that your obd-2 plugs will go into it. the z6 ecu will not work, either, unless converting to obd-1 using a jumper harness, and again, i do not think your trans is compatible. the a6 intake manifold is also a waste of your time, youll want the d16y8 manifold, complete with sensors, you can reuse your old rail/injectors...again to retain obd-2 plug and play capability. you will need a y8 mls headgasket, and unless you like taking chances, arp head studs. im fairly certain that you will also need to swap your y7 cam gear over to the z6 head, or be a half tooth off. all that being said, sell the crap you have and buy a y8 head. lots of time hassle to be saved. now you know.
