Default 98 front end on 00

no, this is not a thread for a 2000 conversion on a 98, but the other way around. looking to swap front ends with my buddy, he has 2000, I have 98. I know I can do the swap from on my car 98 to 2000 with minor modifications, but will I have any issues swapping my 98 front end on to his 2000? if so, what problems? I searched, but only found conversions for my car, not his (understandable). thanks for the help!

I'm working on fixing my front end so I have these bookmarked recently. Of course they're not 96-98 to 99-00 but they're well written so they should help:

As you can see my bumper is flush with the fender, and it's pretty solid and tight even if I push the bumper and it won't go in. Many people who have done the conversion will realize that their bumper go in a bit and won't flush with fender.

This is the reason. The 99-00 and 96-98 use different fender stiffener. As you see 99-00 has two small tabs at the end while 96-98 is flat, nothing. The bigger tab is used to push the bumper out when it's on, the smaller tab will go in the hole in fender.

Also note that both stiffener have different angle at the base. 99-00 will be wider with the angle is has once installed on chasis.

Here is how the stiffener of 99-00 looks like when installed, you will see the bigger tab act like a guard to prevent the bumper goes in and make the bumper flushed with fender.

woaow...Im gonna start looking for these. thnks man.

Frontconversion Civic 96-98 to 99-00

What's needed:
- 99-00 hood
- 99-00 headlight units
- 99-00 front side fenders
- 99-00 grille
- 99-00 front bumper

For the people who try to use 99-00 bumper only... ITS NOT GONNA WORK. YOU NEED ALL FRONT PARTS. I made the following pic just to let those guys see the fitment difference with a 96-98 fender and a 99-00 frontbumper. Picture says it all!!!!!

Well, lets start the frontconversion when you have all parts as listed above.

1. Unbolt the 96-98 parts in following order: frontbumper & grille --> headlights --> fenders --> hood
2. Bolt on the 99-00 parts: hood --> fenders --> headlights
3. the grille is mounted on your bumper and you have to use the upper holes on your grille to

hold up your bumper and grille (in my case)

the frontbumper is the only fitment issue

see these pics

you have to cut/dremel a small piece of the bumper

then you can slip the bumper right in its place

unfortunately the holes are differents so you cant bolt these up! As i described above you

have to use your grille which is mounted on your bumper and use the upper holes on your

grille to hold up your bumper and grille (in my case)

Thats pretty much it.
It took me 5,5 hours to do on the street hahahhaha
This is the endresult

Hope you can use this information to do your own conversion.

That is brilliant, it only looks like the front bumper might have some issues for him. ill keep posted in a while when I try bolting it up to his car. Appreciate it!
