Re: (stein_k_9)
seems like you guys have left out the fender stiffener which is pretty important to make your front end clean and flush.
As you can see my bumper is flush with the fender, and it's pretty solid and tight even if I push the bumper and it won't go in. Many people who have done the conversion will realize that their bumper go in a bit and won't flush with fender.
This is the reason. The 99-00 and 96-98 use different fender stiffener. As you see 99-00 has two small tabs at the end while 96-98 is flat, nothing. The bigger tab is used to push the bumper out when it's on, the smaller tab will go in the hole in fender.
Also note that both stiffener have different angle at the base. 99-00 will be wider with the angle is has once installed on chasis.
Here is how the stiffener of 99-00 looks like when installed, you will see the bigger tab act like a guard to prevent the bumper goes in and make the bumper flushed with fender.

I started to do mine but had a couple small problems which made me put my car back together and try again tomorrow.
The screw that holds the bumper and fender on one side wont come out. It is a screw with a nut, so when I twist the nut the screw turns too, and I cannot reach the screw..
Also, I cannot get the fenders off. I Cannot find where the other screws are that hold it on. I know they are on the bottom though. Maybe under the side skirt?

I got the one at the top by the door. Was really hard to get out. Would it be a good idea to remove my door when I do it to get it out easier?
I think it was just the one under the side skirt that I couldnt get. How do I get the sideskirt off?
And I got a lip with my parts. How do I attach the lip to the bumper? There are no holes or anything in the lip. It came with some screws and washers though.

that one by the door shouldnt be too hard to get off. you dont have to take off the door, just use a ratchet with an extension. to get the side skirt off, theres 3 screws you take off by the front wheel, then theres 3 other plastic screws under the side skirt. once you get all of those off, you just slide the side skirt off. the installation of the front lip all depends if you got an oem lip or a replica.

Re: 99-00 Conversion on a 96-98: How-To
The other day I decided to start my 99-00 conversion, and I figured I might as well post up on H-T how to do it, and the problems encountered along the way.
I started with this:
The front end was messed up thanks to a jackknob in a mirage pulling out in front of me, and the "OOPS!" was kinda, um, my fault
Anyways, you have to take off every body panel on the front end; Hood, bumper, fenders, headlights, grill, so your car looks like this:
(I kept the hood on for the time being, because if it started to rain I would have some protection for the engine
Then put the fenders on first, then the bumper, then the lights, then the hood, and finally the grill. Now for everyone the does not know the answer to "Do I need the radiator suuport?" here is the answer.
You don't NEED the support, but if you want it done 100% correct, you will want it.
Otherwise, you will have this:
You can just drill holes into the metal to fix it, or you could leave it, for the rest of the bolts and the grill pretty much hold up the bumper anyways.
Also, on the bumper right to the side closest to the grill, you have to dremel a small piece off of it to get it to fit correctly. But nothing too major though.
Hoodless:
Here is the finished product:
Now, after getting the hood on, i noticed some fitment issues. I don not know if it has to do with the CF hood, or iff the body lines are messed up from the accident i was in. I did have to throw out the passenger side headlight support because it was trashed.
Alignment pics:
It took about 4 hours for me to do, but if i had to do it agan it would probably be a lot quicker that that
Any questions, comments, just let me know
EDIT- Yes, my car looks like a 4x4 right now, so no comments on that, or the fact that my car is 3 different colors. Those problems will be fixed in a couple weeks.
