Default 98 DX tranny compatible with a 99 DX motor?

i know it sounds stupid but some people told me that something wouldn't work because of some small difference between a 98 and 99. I just wanna know if it would work because my 99 DX tranny grinds and i might buy a 98 DX tranny to replace it. Would it work? It should be the same right? thanks.

Yes it will work. You should try to find a 92-95 EX/Si tranny or 96-00 EX tranny because they have shorter gears and you will love them.

all 92-00 d-series transmissions work on all 92-00 d-series engines. but like it has already been covered, the 92-95 ex/si or the 96-00 ex tranny is your best bet with the shorter gears

being an EX driver I would seriously recommend you get a shorter final drive gear though... The 5th gear on the EX tranny is only good for highway driving, at least 65+mph to still accelerate or it'll die on any slight inclination... Definately contimplating swapping mine...

EDIT:
Sorry, that was just a comment on the EX tranny comments... but ur probably not goign to get an EX tranny u'll probably stick with the DX u can get cheap or whatever, like they said I would say go with an EX tranny, but like I said about the shorter final drive gear - but like they also said, as far as I know any D series is compatible with any other D series 92-00 - that's just as far as I know though... probably some JDM **** that isn't...in any event, yeah, it'll work
