97 EX/B16a2 swap/Auto-manual conversion - TACH NOT WORKING!
Igghtz i need some help in figuring this problem out guys. I did a b16a2 swap in my 97 civic ex as well as a auto to manual conversion. I hooked up the wire so the cluster thinks im in park but havent hookd up the reverse lights yet. but i went to start up the engine this morning for the first time na i noticed that the tachometer (RPM Gauge) isnt workin!. do i need to buy an si cluster? or is there a way i could just do some custom wirirng to get it to work?

Re: Need Help! Auto to manual conversion 97 ex RPM GAUGE NOT WORKIN WIT B16 SWAP
Stock cluster should work just fine, mine does. No need for any wiring. Something was done wrong, it should be working.

When you open your hood by the break reservoir there's going to be a bracket. There is just one blue wire by itself running to it with a plug plugged with a rubber plug. That's your rpms signal wire.

Look man, don't take this the wrong way because i'm not trying to be a dick.. Alot of guys on here wont give you the time of day with your short-hand typing. Please type in complete grammatically correct sentences. People will be more inclined to help you with your problem.
As far as your problem, thats the signal wire you would use to run an aftermarket tach. I'm not sure weather or not you would be able to run a jumper wire between there and the factory tach to see if the problem lies in the wiring as i'm not entirely sure how the factory cluster works.

Re: 97 EX/B16a2 swap/Auto-manual conversion - TACH NOT WORKING!
What ECU?
A 99-00 OBD2b ECU sends the rpm signal to the tach, whereas the distributor (not the ECU) of an OBD2a 97 Civic EX sends this signal to the tach. This wiring difference between OBD2a and OBD2b may be the problem.

if the ecu sends the signal to to tachometer then what am i suppose to do if its not working? the tach worked before withe the stock single so i know my cluster is fine. should i jump that Rpm signal wire over to the RPM signal wire on the ecu? and ok itsnotfast. thank you for your help.
