97 Civic top caliper pin removal
How do I remove the caliper pin on the top? The back of the pin has the appearance of a flat carriage bolt head. I tapped on the head with a screw driver thinking it's just a cover but it feels like metal. The bottom caliper pin has a bolt head as expected.

The manual did not cover removing the caliper pins. The bottom pin has a bolt head and you just unbolt and slide out. The top pin head looks like a solid metal carriage bolt head. I did not see a retaining clip. There has to be some sort of mechanical attachment otherwise the pins would just slide out from the calipers expanding and contracting.

Which model? The EX has two sliding pins. The DX top pin should unscrew somehow. I think it has a hex or Torx drive if you clear all the grease off of the end of the pin. If you're having trouble with the pins you can buy a complete caliper that includes the bracket and pins.

The Civic is a DX hatch, EJ6, D16Y7. I will check the passenger side tonight to see if it is different.
