99 civic dx 1.6 L radiator fan issue help!!
hopefully I can put all the info needed to get help asap!
OK so when the radiator fan relay is in, the fan runs non stop and seems to drain the battery down.
It stays on while the key is on the on position and/or started. But the radiator fan will shut off when the key is in the off position or take out the key and if I take out the relay.the fan does not work, but still seems to drain the battery
But I dont know forsure that its draining the battery more its just an assumption. The car is harder to start and seems sluggish! So before i put more money into the car im trying to figure it out myself. Hopefully someone can help me!! Oh and now the heater fan in the cab squealz a litttle when its on low or high speed and its not all the time just sometimes! and makes a weird click noise behind the glove box when i turn it on high(everytime)!

Engine cold. Plug fan relay in. Unplug the thermal switch where the lower radiator hose meets the engine. Turn key on. If the fan now does not run with the engine cold, but does with the switch plugged in, the switch is bad.
If the fan stops when the key is off, it won't drain the battery. Big reasons for battery drain are dome and trunk lights and aftermarket equipment especially stereo amps.
