97 Civic brake light problems
Hey guys. So I was having some brake light problems, did all the quick fixes first (replaced bulbs/32 7.5A fuse).
The problem: If my car's headlight switch isn't turned on, I have no brake lights when I press the pedal. If it IS turned on (dim/full) the brake lights never shut off (or they don't dim/get brighter). They will turn off if the car and headlights are turned off, so I don't think it's a stuck switch. Maybe just a dead one?
Random things that I've seen mentioned in other threads:
-Horn doesn't work. (I haven't been able to try cruise control cause I'm not getting it up to 40 without brake lights in this area. SRS isn't on though, so I don't think it's a cable reel issue.)
-I DO have dashboard lights
-Turn signals/hazards/headlights work
-Remote access doesn't work (I'm guessing this is completely unrelated.)
-Spoiler/3rd brake light/license plate lights don't work either. (To the best of my knowledge, license/spoiler lights didn't work when I bought it, but 3rd did.)
-Car is completely stock.
I'm guessing it's the switch or some wiring problems but I'm not sure. Any ideas? (And thanks in advance!)

If the car is completely stock...I would automatically assume a bad switch... swap the switch...they are only like 5 bucks at AutoZone.

Re: 97 Civic brake light problems
so when the lights are on ur lights are suposed to be on and dim it means ur brake lights arnt working at all. look down by the pedal and see if that plastic stopper is still in there. if its not stick a bolt through it or something.
