Nope, 96' is OBD2-A and 00' is OBD2-B, different wiring schematics.. You need an OBD2B P72 and OBD2B harness..

No. The GSR harness is a two-piece design that splits at the shock towers. The 99-00 Civic uses a one-piece design. It is a complete nightmare to try to match up all the wires. You are better off using your existing 00 Si harness and adding wires for IAB. This is the best way to complete the swap. You will need an OBD2B-to-OBD2A conversion harness to run the ECU.

i see. but i think to myself what different does it make if i have p72 ecu and 96 jdm gsr swapped. and i plan to use gsr wiring harness. they are all matched to run gsr even the wiring? why do i required to use obd2b to hook up with 96 gsr swapped and p72 which belongs to gsr.

maybe i should try to clarify one more time. i got 96 jdm gsr swapped in my 2000 civic si. i have ecu of p72 for the motor. i got the jdm gsr wiring harness attached to the motor and ecu but it was for right hand drive. i found on craiglist, the guy wants to sell 96 usdm gsr wiring harness which the guy found it inside of the gsr car on floor at the junk yard, the car was theft recovered. so i think to my self it should run perfectly since it is gsr compatible.

As someone already stated you cannot use a GS-R harness in a '96 - '00 Civic. They're a completely different design. What you need to do is reuse the civic harness, add the wiring for the IAB sensor and either use an OBD2B to OBD2A conversion harness, or run an '00 - '01 USDM GS-R ECU with the immobilizer removed.

Exactly!! @ricanxplaya, if you read my username, you'd see that I already have a JDM GS-R in a 99 Honda Civic. I think I know what I'm talking about.

*also it does not have to be the 99-00 Si harness. u can also use the 99-00 EX harness. they are BOTH wired for VTEC. Or u can use a Non-vtec harness and wire in VTEC yourself.
