I'm not concerned with brutal acceleration when I'm driving three miles to my place of employment. 33mpg in the city on an engine and tranny that have seen 250k hard miles are a testament to the fact that you can succesfully drive a Civic without winding the bitch out .

On the street, I shift around 3000 margin. On highway on-ramps, I shift around 4500 just to pick up the speed a little so I don't lag other cars behind me.

damn that's low :-p

I normally shift around 4000-4500, otherwise I have SUV's up my ***. Freeway onramps about 5500. Driving slowly around town 3000-3500.

Most of the speed limits on streets around here are 50-55.

My usual cruising RPM on highway is around 3500 to 4000 in 5th gear, that's around... 140km/h IIRC. I go against the traffic in the morning and afterwork so the speed usually picks up naturally

But ya, in city, I shift low. In neighbourhoods, I cruise at 2500 in 2nd gear. I hate bastards vrooming in neighbourhoods. And often, after a long *** hawling, you hear cheery sound right after.
