96 civic failed e-test 4 times and won't pass need help
Hey guys I have a 96 civic hatch here with a stock engine and I'm trying to put it under my name. It has failed etest about 4 times on high HC on idle. The lowest I got with it is 344 and the highest was around 417. I live in Canada so the limit is 200. Iv done everything I could think of to make it pass (new cat, set the valves, check timing, clean the injectors, new air\fuel filter, new plugs and wires, and maybe a little more to it) please help

Just did a quick search and found some good info, main causes being ignition timing, faulty ignition components, lean mixture blah blah. Any check engine codes? Probable culprit is the EVAP system.

Does the CEL work?
Do a full ignition system tune up, adjust the ignition timing, and replace the thermostat if it's running cold.
