Icon2 96 civic ex cooling problem..HELP PLEASE

I can not get my cooling fan to come on and am over heating at higher speeds. I am out of money and solutions and am hopeing for some knowledge from you all. I comepleatly rebuilt my D16Y8 v-tec fan will come on when jumped, put new rad switch, radiater, water pump,t-stat. I have read quite a lot of posts about a bleeder and I do not have one.I have flushed motor & new radiater out. I have it on a toggle now and it still gets up to 3/4 on the gauge when on the highway but as soon as I get off the ramp my temp drops to normal. When I turn the a/c on only my a/c fan comes on. It does not use any coolant. Is it also normal for my t-stat to take so long to open? On the highway I have to run heat to keep from getting to hot. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

did you install the thermostat correctly?

Is your ground connection on the thermostat housing good?

All right!! Solved my cooling problem. It had to be "burped as said above, I jacked the passenger front up as high as the jack would go and then added my coolant. Without having a bleeder I guess this is the way to do it. I have replaced both the coolant sensor and the switch and my fan is still not coming on though. I put an ohm meter on my switch and it is good, my fan is good, and as said before can jump my switch plug and fan comes on and can hear my relay too so still at a loss there if anybody has had that one before??

You might want to make sure you dont have any air pockets like Jtmartin96civic said. Also instead of a switch run your fan to the back of your fuse box with a fuse in line just check that you run it to a spot that only gets power when your key is in the on position also see if you can get a lower Tstat. If your running 180 or 190 I dont Know what most honda come stock with see if they have a 160 you will still get heat in the winter (not as good as the higher Tstats but still comfortable for a small car) and is you radiator coolant mixture right. (your not running all water or anything are you sorry but the civic I bought had straight water in it lol. Once it gets hot it takes longer to cool)

I did put a 15 amp inline on my toggle, I think Im running a 185. I will check into a 160ish though. I am running 50/50 coolant. I got the air out last night and it is cooling like its supposed to but my fan still will not come on with out direct wiring. Its driving me crazy knowing all the componants are there and in working order but still not coming on!??

The fan runs off fuse 57 (20Amp), through the high side of the relay, to the motor to ground. The switch runs off the low side of the relay so even if the relay clicks it might be the cause due to poor continuity. Your compressor fan runs off a different relay. they have fuse 17 in common. It powers the low side for both relays. The ground for the fan is behind your passenger headlamp near the rubber bumper
