96-98 b16b in 96 dx VTEC power issues
So I have a 1996 dx civic hatchback and a couple months ago i had a seriously bad overheating issue and replaced my d16 with a civic type r b16b. I ordered the motor from hmotors. When it showed up on my door step the motor and everything with it looked almost mint condition. Now being it a JDM motor i cannot use the RHD engine harness, and theres no USDM DOHC obd2a motors that I know of so I am forced to reuse my SOHC harness. One thing id like to mention i dont think itll matter that much but the TPS was off and hanging on the harness when i got the motor, no biggie, but the gasket was ripped up and i just took it off and put the TPS on without it since Honda does not sell this gasket alone. Now when it comes to wiring i followed step by step Katmans write up on ek wiring for obd2a https://honda-tech.com/forums/hybrid-engine-swaps-18/gathering-ek-wiring-information-558245/ . I ran into two issued when wiring though. 1 the o2 sensor connection did not reach the o2 sensor so ON THE ENGINE HARNESS I cut and extended the wires to the o2. 2 some idiots helping me take out the old motor decided its be fun to smash 3 of my injector plugs so we had to cut 3 off the ctr harness and sodder them on the sohc harness. Im not sure if either of these would effect anything but I throw no CEL. So the motor starts great and runs very well to what I know (used to have a b16a2 in EG hatch). My problem comes when I hit VTEC. VTEC cracks with no issue and sounds great but has no signifigant power change at all (sometimes it get a little kick a few hundred rpms into it but not much) but I mean it slowly revs all the way to 9000 rpms but does not rip at all like a b16b should. I did a compression check 180 across the board. Took off the valve cover to check timing, check! Went to do an ignition timing check and the car wouldn't start... come to find the igniton coil blew while doing all that. Replaced that and the car started. Made sure all the ignition timing is in check. So I no longer have any ideas what it maybe. LOOKING FOR ANY SUGGESTIONS or IDEAS!!
forgot to mention that when i romp on it (aka hit vtak and such) when i come to a stop or when im out of gear off load it likes to idle really high sometimes, and will sometimes come back down after i tap on the gas.
also forgot to mention that i replaced spark plugs not wires (plan on doing that very soon)
1996 dx hatch with dx wiring harness modified to fit b series
96-98 b16b from hmotors
ECU numbers xxxx-pct-003
short ram 3in intake with AEM filter
poop dc sports 4-2-1 header
2.25in straight through piping to ES tuning muffler
Thanks, Mark (please im dying without real vtec)

what ecu do you have in there? could be the ecu timing and fuel maps r off.... also 180 across the board doesnt sound right for a B16B.... kinda low, did you do that cold or running temp?

i listed the ecu. im not sure exactly which it is but i think its 003. i think it was cold when we did the comp check, but we also only let it attempt to turn over 4 times. ive read alot of other things with people having over 230 on all 4 but im just assuming they did it either hot or more turnovers than i did, i was mostly worried about if they were all the same.

oh I see the ecu now, sorry..... no ideas here, looks like everything should work fine if you have no CEL and right ecu for that motor. GL man, sorry I couldnt be more help!
