Default 96-98 to 99-00 Civic HB conversion

A few days ago i was putting together the parts for the conversion on my 98' Ek to a 99-00 and realized that the bumper didn't FIT!!! I bolted the fenders, lights, and also the hood on but the bumper didnt seem to bolt on. My brother (hes a body man) told me the that the radiator support (bulkhead) the one that the lights and bumper bolt onto need to be changed also? ANyone out there who's done this conversion can tell me what the problem is? ANyone encounter this problem?

when putting on a 99-00 civic bumper on a 96-98 civic...you need to change the stiffners, they are black and are located under the head lights...I also had to shave a little on the bumper where it screws next to the grill...This is so you can screw bolts onto the frame...

you don't have to have the radiator support to have a clean looking conversion...I converted my 98 to a 00 without the radiator support and mine came out nice. From what I remember we cut a slit in the bumper so when we put the bumper on the bracket would slide into the slit.

Here is picture of my 98 Hatch with a 00 front end:

clean.... yes it is possible to do a great 99-00 conversion without the rad. support. Although the rad support ideal its not the rad support that cost money its the welding that needs to be done that might be expensive

What I did is use a rubber hammer and bent the two things down. Metal where the holes for the bumper are. I just use Si grill screwed to the bumper to hold it up. Works fantastic.

would it be a good idea to break those brackets that support the bumper and weld the 99-00 brackets on there? i have a welding machine at home and if thats the case then i can do that.... I did bent the brackets earlier today, and the bumper did screw on but the problem is my grill was just ordered and its on its way...Hopefully the bumper doesnt fall off with the 4 bolts i screwed on

You don't need another radiator support...But buy one if your rich.....Everything from a 99-00 civic coupe will bolt in will minor modifications....The mods are so simple that if you can't do it, then you shouldn't be taking parts off your car....

I did the conversion on my 96 hatchback awhile back. No radiator support needed. You do need to do a little cutting of the 99-00 bumper though.

These tabs on the bumper don't line up correctly so I had to saw em off.

Came out pretty decent i think.

by now you basically know you DONT need to buy rad support. I didnt even check out HT when I did my front 99-00 to my 96 hatch. I just used snips and cut a little piece of the "bracket". I didnt want to snip the bumper, anyway you can buy the 99-00 bracket but ofcourse it would need to be weld to your rad support and its easy to weld but you would have to make sure its aligned. Let me know if you have trouble, Ill send pics

I did the conversion on a 96 and everything bolted up easier than changing your oil. That seems a little wired to me. Good luck with it though
