95 honda civic vtec problem please help
hi i have a 95 Honda civic with a gsr swap in it the motor year is a 2000. It has a stock 2000 chip and my vtec does not work its just all motor. I do have a 02 sencer missing but i dont think that would do anything? I also have a check engine light on i think because of the o2 but it turns off somtimes and i have more power. I have no idea what the problem is please help.
Thanks

Maybe you might want to put it back if the system is looking for it. Take it to a shop and get a O2 bung welded on. Your car will run in closed loop until it's fixed. It'd not needed for VTEC to activate.

For vtec to work, there has to be a lot of factors that come into play, and the o2 sensor could be one of them. For it to work you have to have certain engine temp or some cars, and a good enough oil pressure and stuff like that. So you not having the o2 sensor on a newer engine that could be OBD2 will probably have something to do with it. So i'd say have it put back in I can't hurt anything.

Your speed sensor is bad, the ecu needs a speed signal for VTEC to engage among other things that being said it cant be your cluster that is bad because the ecu would still receive a speed signal
