Hey, I just got my GF's neighbors car for a great price because it had a broken timing belt. I replaced the timing belt and i lucked out and the valves were perfect and unharmed. But now i have a problem. The oil light keeps coming on. I dont think she ever changed the oil.. it was thick and VERY dark. I drained all the old oil out and put fresh oil in and a new oil filter (old oil filter had thhhick oil in it almost as thick as gear oil) well after putting all that on it helped and the light went off. I drove the car 6 miles and it came back on.... what now??

Add oil.
Check the oil level. May have an oil leak somewhere.

i did check oil... just changed oil and put new filter in it.... but it dont matter anymore... it blew up last night... i think the oil pump failed and it spun a bearing.... RIP

sorry to hear that. just be thankful it's a sohc, it'll be cheaper to replace than a b-series.

we finished the swap with the new SOHC Vtec motor we got from some guys race car... wow.. fastest SOHC vtec auto ive been in... feels like my sisters 98 Accord EX V6. Vtec kicks in hard and pulls until it shifts. when it ingauges it should like a B16 Vtec or B18c Vtec engauging... I cant remember ever hearing one do that before.. I think this motor might have a cam. when it goes into 2nd gear it spins the tires over a little too. lol very impressive Well worth $450 very much so.

Oh i never said. me and my buddy got our friend to (his dad owns a local junk yard) we got him to get a hatch from the auction for us. It was a stripped out CX that was seased by some insurance agency because the owner was street racing. It was a completely gutted CX 94' teal hatch with Tokico 5ways, Ground Control coilovers, Rative 2.5 stainless mid sevtion, 2.5 test pipe, stock Si muffler, Greddystainless header, STR cam gear (they had it on 4 degrees advanced), MSD wires, MSD cap, MSD External Coil, MSD ignission box, NGK R plugs, and a AEM intake. car was fully gutted and everything... We picked it up for $800 + a $60 towing fee to get it to where we lived. but yeah. I paid $450 of it and got the motor setup for my civic... runs great i must say..

when we pulled the old motor we saw it had dents on the oil pan... we oilend up the pan and parts of the insides were everywhere, cyl #2 had thrown a rod and things wee just busted up in ther.. I knew it broke something pretty damn bad.. it sounded like the motor fell out on the highway when that **** happend... (never ride when oil light is on!!!) but the bearings in it where all toast also..

u can hear vtec on your sohc??? whats done to the internals>??

From past SOHC motors I've blown up if you don't kill your engine when you see the oil light pretty fast you have less than 15 miles to make it to where you want. That has happend 3 times in my case. All were oil pumps and they spun a bearing out to end there lifes.

I have NO idea at all. It was in a car we baught at the junk yard (our friends dad owns the place) and they got it from a auction and said the original owner lost the car street racing and was seased and taken away. I have no idea what kinda interals it has at all... all i know is its in my 95 EX automatic coupe now lol. It was dry out today for a lil while and when you floor it when it changes gears it chirps 2nd gear with 2 passengers in the car! Ive never seen a SOHC like it before... Vtec x-over is like that of a B16 and PULLS all the way to shift point... how in the world is this motor so beastly??? I still have power strearing, AC and all options in my car too.. the power feels as good or a little better then my Sisters 98 EX auto V6 vtec accord.

short ram intake will do the trick.
