94 a/c system into a 92
im puttin a 94 a/c system into my 92 civic. i have everything under the hood and all the boxes under the dash. i just need to know what sub-harness i need for under the dash and if i will have to rewire that subharness into the rest of the harness or if it will just plug in. also do i need the climate controls from a 94-95? or will the 92 one work? i know someone has done this. thanx

'92 - '95 Climate control are all interchangeable. The sub harness you need from a '94 - '95 civic, any model. The sub harness should plug right in, what i don't know is that between '92 - '93 amd '94 - '95 there is one additional wire, I can't even remember which years have 3 wires and which have 2, and I don't know if that third wire is in the harness the sub harness plugs into.

yeha i knew one of them had an extra wire for the control box, but i also dont know if anything extra is needed on the rest of the harness or not

If you have the harness for the fans and compressor, that should plug right into your stock harness in your engine bay..(its right behind the passengerside headlight) and the evaporator that goes into the dash should plug right into the stock harness in the dash.. ive installed a/c in my civic cx with hardly any experience and also everyone telling me i couldnt do it. make sure your gaskets are all new or u will have a leak. i didnt even replace my dryer like everyone says to.. but you should.. but my a/c works good in this 100 degree cali heat! i hate being hot and sweaty.. Thats not quite what he's getting at. '92 - '93 civics used R12 for the refridgerant and the harness under the dash where the evaporator is, is different between '92 - '93 civics that used R12 and '94 - '95 civics that used R134a, 2 years used a 2 wire connector, the other 2 years used a 3 wire connector, I can't remember which years used which connector though and if that 3 wire (if required is in the harness the sub harness plugs into.)

where is this extra wire and what does it do. i thaught you guys were talking about for the thing that controls the routing of the air, but thats the same 92-95. and if the controls are the same 92-95, what exactly is differant? the only things left are the fan motor and the temp sensor. and honda shows the same part number for both through all of the years. i saw a "fan motor resistor" is that where the differance is?

I put an a/c system from a 95 civic (R134) on a 92 Civic (R12), everything was easy to install. The only thing was the 3 wire harness that was under the dash for the thermostat in the evaporator all I did was went to the junkyard picked up a thermostat from an 92-93 civic (R12) and took off the one that was on the evaporator that I had and put on the R12 thermostat and that's it, just plug it in and turn on the a/c. You could also buy it new.

Yes the controls are the same, there is no need to change out the controls. All you have to do is pop off the cover plate (gray rased pice on the far right) from your climet controls and pop in the button cover the switch and all the wiring is already installed.
