Default 93 Si - Rear caliper stuck out

Hey everyone,

I just picked up a 93 Del Sol Si for $200 from a lady I work with.

Anyway, the rear passenger brake was bad... so bad the outer pad was worn down to the metal, and was grinding away at the rotor.

The inner pad was jammed in the caliper bracket and we had to put it in a vice to get it out, it wasn't even touching the rotor and that side of the rotor was nice and rusty.

So anyway, we put a 1x4 into the caliper and hit the brake pedal. Jammed the piston to the wood, took forever to get the wood out. Got the wood out, and gave it just a hair of pressure on the brake petal, and the caliper shot brake fluid out from all around the piston.

Looking to see what you guys recommend.

Thanks.

Also, do they twist in, or press in? We just tried pressing the piston back in but had no luck.

I think you should just replace the caliper:

it twists in, but make sure that you lube the piston boot as to not bind it when the piston goes back in (due to the twisting motion).

I would also agree to replace it at this point. The 7CLP13S calipers are fairly reasonable.

So to get the piston to go back into the caliper it needs to be twisted... Ill give that a shot.

Can someone direct me on where to buy a right rear caliper in case that doesnt work?
