93 civic vx with jdm d15b vtec- need help with cel
I have a 1993 civic vx. When I bought the car it had already had a jdm d15b vtec engine swap done. When I test drove the car before buying it, it had no cel's but it didn't seem to run quite right. We bought the car and I checked which computer it had and it had the po7 vx computer and the vx o2 sensor. I installed a p28 computer, and converted to a 4 wire denso o2 sensor. They had put the intake manifold and the egr for the vx on the d15b engine. I unhooked the wiring harness plugs going to the egr system. I left the hoses for the egr hooked up. I then drove the car and I got a cel after the car had warmed up and was traveling at a constant speed. After that we continued to drive the car for the last year with no problems, other than the cel coming on. I checked recently for the cel codes and i have received one code for the o2 sensor and one for the fuel system supply (codes 1 and 43).
I would like to get the cel problem fixed? Any ideas?

I can't say I know for sure. When I bought the car, the previous owners didn't seem to know much. They said there mechanic got the engine from Japan and that is all they could tell about the engine. I assumed it was the SOHC VTEC. I know the block has d15b stamped on it and the head has po8-3 stamped on it and the intake manifold had p07A stamped on it. It also has the single vtec solenoid installed. Is there a way to tell for sure?

The car has been running fine this way for over a year and I am getting good gas mileage ( about 40mpg on the highway). Do you think leaving it like it is will lead to any long term problems? Also, is the egr affecting anything?- I have the wiring unhooked but the tubes are still hooked up.

Re: 93 civic vx with jdm d15b vtec- need help with cel
I have an intake manifold being shipped to me. It is coming off of a 1.6 liter ex or si. It was mentioned in one of the posts above that I also need fuel injectors. I have located 4 injectors on a fuel rail at a local yard. I am wondering what else is going to run into as far as other parts that may need to be switched over. I am thinking that the throttle body that is bolted on to the vx intake manifold is not going to work. Do I need to order an ex/si throttle body? There is a part that says "sensor assy, map" on the intake manifold. There is also the pressure regulator and the purge control solenoid valve. Are these interchangeable between the z1 and the z6? Anything else I am overlooking in order to do the switchover?

If the Z1 and Z6 part numbers don't match, then get the Z6 part.
