Re: 93 Civic/F22 swap - A new challenger appears *LWIP*
called the machine shop and asked what they needed in order to have some things done to my block. Since i decided to have my rotating assembly balanced i need a couple more things before i drop off my the block. off to the junkyard i go
today wasent a total loss, i picked up a virgin p28 ecu for $40 . Also made some changes on how im going to build this motor pretty much cutting back a couple of things i dont need to worry about atm. if everything goes ok the car should be put together and running towards the end or the middle of next month

Things are starting to pick up. Recived my motor back from the machine shop, arp head and main bolts are already waiting to go in. Still need quite a few things but im alot closer now to being done .
Someone had mentioned thats its not to run a car none boosted and then boost it later on, said that the rings dont seat right after being ran w/o the addition of boost and they end up failing a lot sooner, any thoughts on that?
Also i was wondering if i could use the h series crank timing gear on my motor and just use a smaller timing belt since the h series crank timing gear is bigger than the f series. Thoughts?

my dsm friend keeps going on about how the stock 4g63 turbo manifold bolts right up to and f22 minus the left lower bolt hole on the flange, of which you just drill it out. then u can run a 14b/various16g/20g turbo set ups and make big numbers. just a thought.

You really should do an f2b. Don't want to spend the money? Apparently you don't like to go fast. It's the best speed for the money upgrade you could do.
I think anyone is insane or stupid to not use an h2b kit for F/H swaps. There is 0 reason not to. Money is not a concern, get a new hobby if you can't afford to do it right. Or swap in a b-series. You're really making a big mistake by neutering your engine swap capability by not using a much better transmission.
F22 sohc engines are very capable boost or n/a motors. Makes me sad to see someone doing this unique swap and not doing it right or cost effectively. You'll go faster with less money if you use the h2b kit. Won't have to cut the floorboard to run shifter cables, b-series engine mounts, tranny/axles sit better, and not to mention the whole swap will weigh less with a b-series tranny.
Really a big mistake and something you'll wish you had done months from now. $750 for the best bolt on performance gain? A lot of h2b'ers gain almost a second in the 1/4 mile and higher trap speed when switching from a regular h22/f22 trans just with the better axle alignment and better gearing.

I appreciate your advice. Your points are valid but i have reasons why im not doing a f2b at this time, not just because of expenses. I may very well do a f2b but things came up and the car HAS to be done asap like within a few weeks, so hunting a new trans, linkage and saving up for the f2b kit is something that i cant do. As of now, which h2b would you recommend?

FYI for those who are wondering what they car my look like when im done.....its gonna look ****, or primer . I really wish i have the time to make it better but i just dont, but its still a work in progress.
Stay tuned, just waiting on pedals, bsd kit and mount bracket. After that its just a matter of putting everything together, wiring and some welding.

Yeah i looked at them and a few others the last time you told me about doing the h2b setup, they seemed to be the best ones since they are kinda "h series only" guys

There's only the QSD and the Evo kit, and the QSD kit has better angles, better ground clearance, and the engine sits in the b-series location. The Evo kit struggled with shifting problems for years.

The QSD kit is plain better. Period. Take my word for it. The bisimoto kit is the Evo kit, and the evo kit has had a myriad of problems over the years.

Yeah, motor ran but needed waterpump and full gasket set, body rust is minimal. Also needed front suspension, one upper control arm, both inner toe rods and one outer tie rod. Still needs front brakes but just the rotors, interior cept the headliner is trash (had to scrap the leathers ). But other than that all the electrical stuff still works.
EDIT: PS What mazda did you have? I had an 03.5 MSP and my girl has 97' MX-6 2.5 v6. Both a manual (obviously)
EDITEDIT: PSS You could turbo that f series and boost the SHITTT out of it.

That's a myth. H22s/f22's weigh 15-30lbs more than a d-series. If you care that much buy a motorcycle battery to replace the 50lb behemoth under the hood. Not many people keep a/c anyway, all that stuff makes up the difference big time.
Either way, 30lbs is probably the average weight most Honda drivers need to lose. I'm tired of seeing this engine weight BS get perpetuated.

If you decide to go the DSM manifold route, get one from a 2G DSM (95-99). They flow more.
Turbo wise, given the choice get one from a 5-speed 1G (90-94) a.k.a. 14B if you're trying to save money. DSM injectors (450cc) are probably a good choice too.
