93 civic ex prob plz help

93 civic ex prob plz help
plz no smart remarks. my dash gauge lights do not work. the idiot lights work but the lights do not come on so at night i have no idea wut speed im goin. i have projector headlights hooked up, are they robbing too much power from my lil battery. when i turn the lights on, all my lights dim. my battery is a small junk one so is that the prob?? the altenator and battery were checked and are fine. any help would be nice. thx the battery is always almost dead when i start the car also....

Just put a regular size battery in there.
It doesn't exactly fit in the tray...but it's not really going anywhere...
EDIT:
The battery just crapped out on my civic today and I had to replace it - the civic "smaller" batteries suck .

the dimmer **** is not all the way down.... if u cant help me dont give me ur smart a$$ answers alright. ya i have an optima im gonna put in it, it almost fits so....

i put the optima red top in. they still dont work. also my cd player wont work. the fuses are all fine unless there are more fuses im not aware of. i check all under the dash and under the hood. idk wut is wrong with it. whenever i turn sumthing on like my headlights, or parking lights, everything dims like my dome light and lights for my heater. any help would be good. thx

ok let me get this straight when the park lights are on the dash lights are working and if you turn the head lights on then the lights go out ?

no the dash lights dont work at all even with the parkin lights off. the dome light dims and the light on the heater dims when i turn the parkin lights on.

I think the problem you are describing also happened to two of my friends...
The dimmer switch just kinda gets old after a while, and stops working on these cars. What you can do as an easy fix is just override the dimmer switch.
Basically, just pop that whole assembly out:
and there are three wires that go into the back of the dimmer switch. One black (ground), one red, and one red with a black stripe.
Just connect the solid red and the black together, and it is like the dimmer is turned all the way up at all times

No prob, glad I could help.
Both of my friends who had this problem just left the bypass, and didn't bother with the dimmer switch anymore, cause it will likely happen again with a replaced one. Also, when is it really necessary to dim your dash lights Personal preference though.
