It sounds like you either have your dimmer **** set all the way dim.

Just put a regular size battery in there.

It doesn't exactly fit in the tray...but it's not really going anywhere...

EDIT:
The battery just crapped out on my civic today and I had to replace it - the civic "smaller" batteries suck .

I think the problem you are describing also happened to two of my friends...

The dimmer switch just kinda gets old after a while, and stops working on these cars. What you can do as an easy fix is just override the dimmer switch.

Basically, just pop that whole assembly out:

and there are three wires that go into the back of the dimmer switch. One black (ground), one red, and one red with a black stripe.

Just connect the solid red and the black together, and it is like the dimmer is turned all the way up at all times

your alternator powers your car while its running.
your battery starts the car
just for future reference.

No prob, glad I could help.

Both of my friends who had this problem just left the bypass, and didn't bother with the dimmer switch anymore, cause it will likely happen again with a replaced one. Also, when is it really necessary to dim your dash lights Personal preference though.
