Icon2 93 civic ex? with d16a

hey guys, im new to this forum. But i know a little bit about cars just from doing work on them in my garage. I recently picked up a 1993 Honda civic ex coupe, but on the title under "model" it says CE. im trying to figure out what this car is.

On the block it is stamped D16a, nothing after the A.it has a valve cover that does not say vtec, but the valve train is and it has a vtec solenoid. The stamp on the head is P08-2 and the ECU is a P28.

oh and the transmisson is stamps S20?

i have never heard of this motor and im getting such conflicting information on the internet so i figured id go to the pros...

Thanks guys for any information you may know about this in advance! Hope someone knows what this is. (i was told it was a JDM motor, but everyone calls there car JDM)

I believe the D16A is a JDM spec engine. It may come from a Domani or some other civic in Japan.

thanks for the response! Do you think its worth anything? i picked the car up for a grand.... also on the internet it says it has the vtec solenoid but doesn't actually have vtec? so if i want replacement parts for it, it would be equivalent to a USDM D16z6? i was told the d16a has like 2ish extra hp?

thanks again

It's essentially a D16Z6 with 5 more hp. It does have VTEC, the previous owner probably just swapped it in your car because they blew the previous engine. Take some pics if you want to confirm.
