The oil Pressure light is coming on. I have the correct amount of oil. Is this strictly an oil pump issue or could it be something else? What is the best way to check your oil pump? My car has been sitting for nearly six months. Thanks for your help.

IMO, pull your oil pan. Since it's been sitting there for 6 months, your oil might of became somewhat "sludged". This can cause your oil pump to have no access to pick up the oil from the pan since the screen has probably becomed clogged. Check that, THEN come to the assumption that your oil pump is shot.
Try removing and refilling with fresh oil and a new filter. Don't run you car too much, this can damage your motor if it comes out that your pump is shot.
