93 1.5 Bad sputter, need your thoughts
My 93 1.5 18 valve non vtec has a bad sputter every once in a while. Never does it on idle, only when I start to drive, or if I'm in a low RPM and try accelerating. I've replaced the dizzy, rotor, plugs, wires and fuel filter.
No clue what to do from here.. also feels like I lack of power once I get into 2nd gear but I'm not sure if that's how it supposed to be or not since this is my first honda lol.
Could it be from a dirty IACV or FITV? I should clean those out anyway since it does idle really high.

You might try a can of BG 44K. The stuff is kind of expensive ($25) but you pour it in the gas tank and it helps clean things out. The place I take my Honda uses it and Honda dealerships recommend it.

I've ran a can of seafoam, gumout, and STP cleaner so far through the tank, and a half tank of 93 octane. I don't think the injectors are clogged since it doesn't do anything at idle. It's really not a huge deal, since I plan on swapping this asap, but It's a very low miles motor and I'd like to keep it as a spare motor in the event that my swap takes a dump.
Some people have said to check all the grounds? I'll need to check the Haynes I got to see if it lists all the engine grounds. But once again, if it was a ground wouldn't it idle rough?

You replaced the "dizzy," and you have checked your timing afterwards with a timing light?
Have you tested anything? An ICM inside the "dizzy?" Did you use OEM parts?

I did not check the timing, I wasn't aware I had to? I haven't tested anything inside of it, and no it was autozone parts

Check your timing first then set your base idle speed per manual spec. which is nicely placed in the FAQ's sticky. Get the basics tuned first before you suspect sensors and gaskets. Diagnosis it. Good luck.

Will do thanks, I don't think it's the head gasket, oil and coolant are clean, no smoke, no coolant smell in the exhaust. I'll check out the timing first

Well was going to check the timing, but theres no timing cover... So I gotta get one of them then do it. I did move it a little trial and error got it running better than it was for now.
