Default 93 civic si idles very low when starting up

this is for my friends 93 si. when he started the car this morning, it didn't rev to 2k as it should (its winter in winnipeg), just started to idle really low 100-200 rpm, and barely could drive. no CELs. the muffler sounds like its choking or burping.

what could the problem be?

he said before it started happening, he went for a car wash and filled up gas. maybe fuel delivery problem? fuel filter clogged?? water in tank??

Let me know guys!

didn't clean the iac and the fitv as its too cold out!

but i did manage to replace the cap + rotor and spark plugs.

the wires have spark when touching the valve cover but its not consistent.

ttt..

friend said it could be that the injector screen could be clogged....

can anyone confirm this?

also checked the resistances on the plug wires with my DMM. they are within spec.

i have the same problem after i swapped in a dizzy into my y8, i just adjusted the timing on the dizzy and that fixed it...though the car doesn't pick up like it used to and once you rev the motor and the motor comes back to idle it sounds like its almost chocking but still alive???anybody have any ideas? i just swapped dizzys nothing else didn't touch anything else. Also the car picks up okay after 3500rpm but anything below that it lags like crazy...????

why do people continue to say IACV, if this is bad the CEL would be on, and the OP sadi he DIDN'T have a CEL. a bad/clogged FITV would give a fluctuating idle.

come on people get it together!

i would try replacing the fuel filter, also the pcv valve, also adjust the idle screw near the throttle body.
