92CX Rev Problem Need Help
I have a 92 CX and when I press the gas it hits a point were stops revving and acts like a governor on a lawn mower. The engine check light does come on. If I am in first gear it RPMs max at 20mph then I change to second and the RPMs stop at 40mph. And it doesn’t matter if im in gear or in neutral. The problem is always there. Also I dont have a RPM gauge on this car so that doesent help me find out the problem. If I have just started the car and press and hold the gas down it revs fine for one sec and goes really high. But then I let go of the gas and engine check comes on and starts back up. I don’t know how to go about fixing the problem so thought I would ask to see if yall have been thru this before.
Thanks in advanced

well... i have a manual on my car and i looked at it and read obout the codes. and it looks like the only way i can get the code is thru a diognostics tool or somthing like that. and if thats so i might as well just pay some one to fix the problem. any suggestions?

sounds like a restricted exhaust or melted cat. Does it back fire? Does it seem to run better cold? On the passenger side to the right of the glovebox on the floor where the ecu is-behind the right kick panel- you will be looking for a 2 pin connector- usually it is blue and sometimes it is inserted into a rubber green holder. Sometimes it is blue taped to the harness. Find it and jump it- turn your key on and count the blinks. Long blink=10 short blinks=1.

Re: 92CX Rev Problem Need Help (fixhondas)
It doesnt back fire and it doesent matter if its cold or not. Still runs the same. Also you talked about a 2 pin connector but i still cant find it. i took the whole ecm apart to check it and no 2 connectors. i looked and followed the wires of the 3 connectors connected to the ecm. Mothing like a blue connector or something with two pin connector wholes. Any more tips? heh this is one of the only things i havent takeing apart of my car besides my engine. So thanks i like learning new stuff.

sometimes it will be shoved up between the glovebox and body. HAve someone feel the exhaust gas at the tailpipe while you floor it- if there is not very much coming out- you have a restriction.

under the dash by the glove box if you peak your head under the dash and look up above the kick panel area you'll see the three pin connector and a two pin connector in this goofy little green rubber protector. pull the two pin connector down and out from it...jump it with a paper clip or a wire, hell steel your little brothers retainer. now turn on the ignition all the way but don't start it. watch the check engine light count the flashes and pulses and check them against your code guide... tada

I'm not 100% sure on price- some were @300 others are around 150. The price has changed on some. Yeah- you can do it yourself- be sure to pick up a new cap and rotor as well. This may not be your ONLY problem- it is possible that your bad distributor caused an excessivley rich condition which could have melted your converter as well- blocking exhaust flow. But I doubt it.
