92 VX Cel 48 :(
Alright quick question guys I know this has been talked about quite a bit in the past and I just wanted to clarify something that I was unsure about from all the old threads.
I'm throwing code 48 Lean air fuel sensor
I just wanted to verify if this is the sensor on the top of my exhaust manifold in the engine bay in plain sight?
Or is there another one further down my exhaust that is the specific LAF the code is talking about?
I'm pretty sure the one I need to be replacing/tinkering with is the 5 wire 02 sensor but just checking before I pull it out and break a $400 part for no reason. Once I hear back I'm going to try cleaning it in gas for the day to see if that solves the problem.
- also a little background
It was last replaced 11 years ago with the factory correct part I have the old receipt.
I've reset the code and ran through the recommendations in the Haynes manual 3rd gear 1500 rpm and it returned.
It comes on everyday after I get started down the road.
I don't have a voltage meter to do the other test methods but from looking at all of the wiring it appears brand new with no blatantly obvious markings/stress.

Okay I'll check that out this weekend for sure! Figured the savings I'll have from a new 02 sensor will take about 10 months to payoff the part! lol so getting this resolved cheaply would be nice!

I just got an OEM 5 wire wideband NTK from Tim's Electric Auto Parts ebay store. Under $120 shipped. Item #120906958810. Yes mine is a VX also. He had 20 and he's down to eight, so don't wait too long.
