92 Civic VX cranks but won't start after sitting 8 months??
The car ran perfectly fine before I let it sit. Now when I try to start it it only cranks and won't turnover. I charged and checked the battery and no start. I checked for spark using the screwdriver in the wire method but didn't see any spark when held near the strut tower or valve cover.
What could cause go bad from just sitting - causing no spark??
I checked the main relay and when put in the "ON" position I felt it and it clicked twice, but didn't feel the third click when trying to start it. Is the relay bad?
Help me out guys.
Thanks

the no spark could be a few things. im not familiar with this exact system but i know the the main relay controls BOTH fuel AND ignition so if you arent getting spark and you mentioned something about the relay not feeling like its working right, that may be a place to start.
i really wish i had a diagram of the system, i would give you a few easy places to check.

I went and tried a new relay and that didn't do the trick. Where is the ignitor/coil?
Why would the ignitor/coil go bad from just sitting?

Did you try starter fluid (ether)? Seems to me you just have stale gas.
If you don't have spark, try another distributor and spark plug wires. Remove the spark plugs also and check that they're clean and dry.
If none of the above work, a rodent might have dined on your wiring somewhere.

Thanks for the input all. I don't have spark. I went to check my coil, and the the screw for the rotor is stripped!!!!! I don't have any way to the coil since I cannot get the rotor off. Looks like I might have to buy a new used dist. How much do used dist. go for? Can I get any 1.5 soch Dist?
Thanks

if you just need a ignitor ill send you one for 40 shipped (and send you a distributor screw.) as for the stripped screw, break off as much of the front of the rotor as you can for access and and get ahold of it with a pair of vice grips to get it loose.
