Icon6 92 civic lx wont start

I took my plug wires out to check and see if there was any oil in my tubes and when i went to live it wouldnt start up, it tries to cranks but i checked my distributor for metal chips and there were none and it is getting spark, any ideas on what is causing the car to not start?

Are the plugs for each cylinder connected to the correct distributor terminal?

if you have just one of them in the wrong spot your not going to be going anywhere. there's another thread around here somewhere that has the correct order for the wires. search for it

i only took out the tubes, just to see if oil was in there with the spark plugs, and i put them back in the same spot, then the car wouldnt start

You want to test spark with a new properly gapped spark plug, which should cost less than $3. This also avoids the need to remove any of your plugs for the spark tests.

should also be for having a control subject. So you know what you're looking for, and how far off the others are from it. like the old "test a known good one"

Any CEL codes?

Does the fuel pump prime (low humming noise) for 2 seconds when the key is turned to ON(II)? If so, remove the coil and igniter unit from the distributor. Test the coil (see below) and take the igniter unit to an auto parts store for testing.

You should be able to buy a basic digital multimeter for about $15 if you shop around.

As money is tight right now, try instead to borrow a multimeter from a friend or alternatively phone some auto parts stores to see if they will also test your coil.
