92 civic keeps dying
okay so kind of what it says.
My 92 civic keeps dying. Every morning i go out to crank on it. It will not start, but the only way to get it started is ither to jump it, or ither to keep it on a battery charger the night before.
So i thought that maybe it was the battery that was just going bad so i bought a brand new battery, the exact same kinda. That next morning i go out and it will not start.
So i put it on the Charger for about 20 minutes and come back the car will start, but if i turn it off right away the car dies. Now i put it back on the charger and let it charge back up and go to where im going and get back into the car and start it sometimes it will start after a medium drive...
So what could be the problems?
1. am i losing power thru something?
2. could my battery just been fried when i put it in
3. is my alternater bad?
4. what else could it be
i tried to explain this as best as i could with out being confusing but basically my car wont start unless i put it on a charger and if i do itll die once i turn it off....
so anyone's advice would be much appricieated....thanks
Brandon

Re: 92 civic keeps dying (Bloopsta)
I can add some more info, I am a buddy of Bloopsta.
Ok so here is the thing, I do not think it is the alternator, because once this car is running it doesn't die. If this alternator was bad wouldn't this car die when driving? We jumped it and went out for a 30 min cruise and it had good power and pickup. IT is a b16a1 motor with GSR cams. Car didn't even sputter or seem like it may die. But when we shut it off, I tried to get it to start and it didn't. So, I think their is something draining his power but what can it be???

i would get a battery that is known to be good then get a test light and with the key off check every fuse to see if there is a draw then you can find out were your looseing power...this happened on my moms car and it turned out to be the igtion switch was shorted out
