Default 92 civic cx/B16 swap - Will a PR4 ecu work?

I have a b16 in my 92 civic and my old ecu (p30) died so i ordered a ecu off ebay and i ask for a p30 and to lower vtec so the new ecu comes and its a pr4 so i try to use it and vtec will not turn on and the iacv i unplugged cause it the idle wonders up and down all the time now, so will this ecu even work i looked up the pinouts and on the pr4 theirs no knock sensor so how will vtec even work then.? any ideas witch wires i might have to switch?

PR4 is a non Vtec LS ECU. The OBD1 version can be chipped and converted to a vtec ECU, but I have no idea without seeing pictures of the ECU board if yours was or not.

PR4 wont look for a knock sensor btw.

ok so the switch inside the ecu was off for the chip i turned it on and the car runs normal except for VTEC WILL NOT ENGUAGE so this clown says that you dont need knock sensor for vtec, is that true? i have to wire in a knock sensor for my old p30.

You don't need to wire knock if you're using an ECU that doesn't look for it (and a PR4 wont, neither will most non-vtec ECUs, P28s (yes even the stock unchipped ones) and some Euro Vtec B-series ECUs

I still don't know if the board was converted to vtec though without seeing pics. Just chipping it and burning a P30 Eprom on a chip wont work, vtec still wont engage until you solder physical components to the board.

Btw, what happened to the P30? Big capacitor blow up? You can usually fix them.

Why dont you just use the most applicable ECU for your application which would be P30, next down the line P28?????????

Other than getting the right ECU it doesn't matter, once they're chipped it doesn't matter what the ECU was originally for. PR4, PR3, P28, P30, P61, P72, P05, P06 once you chip them and add vtec components to the board on the non-vtec ones they all work the same.

Right im just letting you know honda designed a box or two that will work directly for his application with little to no modification unless getting tuned.

unless you just get your rocks off on doing vtec conversions on boxes for fun.when everybody and there mom owns a $#!T-Ton of these things like trading cards. just doesnt make sense plug and play right when you recieve it in the mail. or have to trust some goon soldering up your non-og to your setup odd-box with no knock sensor???????

This is the link to the ebay ecu that i got it shows the conversion thats the guy did
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI...vip=true&rt=nc

he emailed me and ask how did i know vtec wasnt hitting, so i told him ive onlly had this car fo 5 years and when the old ecu is in you can hear and feel it. so he said he checked the chip and every thing was fine, then he told me that cause i got vtec lowered to 4500 rpm that i wouldnt feel it enguage,??? i know if vtec is to low you can have problems but cmon not at 4500 rpm i dont think but i got him to set vtec at 5k now so when i get it back well see if it works
