92 4dr crvtec swap help please!!!
Car: 92 4dr Civic DX
Block: B20B4
Head: B18C1
Engine Harness: SOHC VTEC
Vehicle Harness: Stock
ECU: P28 chipped w/ crome for B20VTEC (No Knock, o2, or ELD)
Saturday 4-26-08:
So I go to start it for the first time, and it goes straight to 3k and stays there. It won't go any higher or lower.
I shut it off and check codes... MAP and IAT. Borrowed a MAP sensor off of wife's running accord... same thing.
Found a plug for the old firewall mounted MAP sensor, thats never been plugged in, in the two years that I've owned it. What can it hurt right? Car goes to 2k and then gradually drops to 1,000~1,200, SWEET!... WRONG! Go to rev it up and it stops at 3k and won't go any higher.
Must be a short somewhere... jumped it from the sensor to the ecu... SAME THING!
Sunday 4-27-08
Guy who chipped my ecu comes over and plugs in his "tuning ecu" w/ hondata/ datalogging/ etc.
The car never throws a MAP code, just the IAT, but still runs like poo, and won't rev past 3k. Tried several different maps and get nothing.
Plug my ecu back in, and it immediately throws the MAP and IAT codes! WTF???!!!
The car ran fine w/ sohc vtec...
So the question is...
Bad ecu?
OR
broken/shorted wire somewhere in the vast majority of wires in the harnesses???!!!
