I was trying to figure out which oil pan I could use to replace mine which has stripped drain plug hole threads. Hopefully this info will help others out.

To spell out the chart in words, this is what it says:
1. The oil pan part number is the same for the D16Z, D15Z and D15B (92-95).
2. The D16Y engines (96-00) use different pans than the 5th gens and additionally there are two different styles of pans for the 6th gens. As B18C points out, the P2J is aluminum and the P2E is steel.
3. The B16 (99-00 SI) pan is obviously not the same as the other same-gen lower trim Civics, but it is the same as the GS, LS and RS Integras.

Note that this is only applicable for US Civics and Tegs. I know that international models had a lot more variations of engine codes and trim levels and I'm not even going to try to compile all of that info.

The P2J EX/HX pan is aluminum and uses a recessed area where the pan "gasket" sits in it.

The P2E pan is steel and uses the flat gasket that sits in between the block and the lip on the pan - same as all 92-95 pans in the way the gasket is configured.

Obviously the aluminum pan isn't interchangable with the steel pan, but I'm not sure if the 92-95 steel pan is even interchangable with the 96-00 steel pan. I don't think they are interchangable.

The P30 you listed won't work at all as it's a B series pan.

There is no question, I already did the searching to find out which pans are interchangeable. The purpose of the post is to help others figure this out since I came upon a lot of misinformation saying that d-series stuff is completely interchangeable. Obviously the part numbers show that this will not work.

pretty much the easiest way to figure out which oil pan you need go to your parts store and give them the year, make and model and they give you the price and part number

Yeah because your local parts store never screws up and orders/gives you the wrong part.



Here we have a guy that is alreay furnishing us with the exact part numbers, so why would you trust Auto Zone to do better?

Man, I really miss the P2J aluminum pans that came on my HXs!

Those things were sick - looked like they belonged on a Ferrari!

The one on my B16A2 sucks - looks like a lawn mower - all dented and dirty with crap stuck to it.
