Default 91 B16A -> 97 EX

Hey everyone,

Very shortly, I plan on swapping a JDM B16A (91 CRX SI MOTOR) into my 97 Civic EX, currently running a D16Y8. I would like to get your feedback for ideas, advice or any issue you all have run into or that may arise when I perform the swap. So this is my story:

I plan on using an OBD0 -> OBD1 conversion harness with a 4 wire 02 sensor, and run a P28 (92-95 Civic) Ecu. I am curious if a crank sensor will be an issue, if so, how can I correct it. This is mainly what I am concerned about at the moment. Please let me know if I should worry about other things etc. Pretty much, let me know what your thoughts are about this swap.

I plan on doing this very soon so quick feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanx to all in advnace.

OBD1 doesn't see the crank speed fluctuation sensor or whatev, so no issue. Inside the car you need an obd2 to obd1 ecu harness though, not obd0 to obd1.

I see, so I need OBD2 -> OBD1 cause my cars OBD2, not OBD0 -> OBD1, cause of the motor is OBD0. Interesting, thanx for the help.

Anyone else have any experience with this swap? Let me know! Thanx!

tranny is cable.

also, make sure you don't have an obd0 engine going into your obd2 car.

88-91 crx si motor = d16a(6) defintaly not worth trouble swapping
if you mean 88-91 Civix/CRX SiR B16A OBDO = pita, unless you don't mind doing alot of, little upgrades to even work.

1) mounts not compatible will require a 99-00 si engine brackets + a/c mounts
depending on the tranny used you might require either hasport kit to stock b-series mounts
2) distributor must be at least OBDI or OBDII b16/b18c
3) reuse your injectors it will make your job easier
4) run either OBDI TB with Map sensor on top or external map (ala 92-3 Civics)
5) linkage must be 90-01 integra or Civic b-series
6) depends on the half-shaft you might require 90-3 axles or 94-01 teg axles, if you have ABS make sure you have ABS rings on the shafts

to say the least simply get a 92+ hydro swap and be done.
