have a civic that runs great, but every once in a while when you shut off the car after driving it, it wont start, but only for usually a short time, it seems to not be getting any fuel. put a new pump in still not cured, any ideas please post, thanks
also tried fuel injector res. box, fuel pressure reg. and ecu. cant figure it out, pissing me off.

Main relay doesn't usually shut the car off, but it will prevent the car from cranking - it'll just spin over repeatedly w/o actually cranking up.
I'd check the ignition switch itself - the electrical portion.
To do this turn the key all the way to the crank postition, then back it off a bit and then turn it back to almost full cranking position. not enough for the starter to scream bloody murder, but still in the 3rd position.
If the switch is bad then the car will remain running as long as you hold the key in the 3rd position.
I see this problem more commonly among Civics 1993 and older these days.
I'd replace the main relay, or fuel pump relay, as some call it soon anyways because they usually **** out in the summer. It's a little black box near your hood release lever under the dash that cuts on the fuel pump in order to crank the car.
It will also cause the car to spin over, but not crank, but like I already said I've never seen a bad one shut a car down once it's running.
Oh ****!
One more thing:
Check for spark too. If your coil is bad you'll get the same symptoms, and it will always shut the car off at random as it begins to **** out too.
Pull a plug wire out and put it near something metal and have someone try and start the car. If you have spark then the coil is fine, but you must wait until the car won't start to do this in order to properly diagnose any of these problems.

Down Since Day 1
most likely since its an EF, its going to be your main relay. Possibly could be an ignition switch, to tell the difference is if your dash lights like engine/battery on the cluster dont come on. If they dont, probably going to be an ignition switch. If they do come on, 99% of the time its a main relay.
I believe both parts less than $60, maybe even way under. But thats just shooting high.
