Default AT to 4speed MT

I have a 95DX witta D15B7 automatic trans-axle. Est. 140k miles on the car, engine, and tranny. My uncle just swapped out his 4 speed for a 5. He offered me the 4 speed for free, it is in good shape and it doesn't have many miles on it. I sort of smiled thinking about having a traditional hot-rod gearbox "4 on the floor." Should I swap or keep it auto?

I am pretty sure it is off of an EF. I haven't gotten a chance to look at it yet. Are those compatible with an EG?

your transmission is already a 4 speed seriously why not swap ur tranny for a manual 5 speed

and if it is a d-series than it should bolt up

and when it comes to Auto to Manual swaps... its not just a transmission

ECU, Pedals, Clutch Pedal, Clutch Lines, New Clutch, Shift Linkage, clutch master cylinder...

You don't have to replace the ECU. I know what is involved in it. I wasn't asking that. I was asking if it would be worth while.

automatic ECU's are horrible for gas mileage without modification to a manual or just swapping the ECU I've done a few auto to manual conversions now also question.

its not worth to do that swap unless you want to buy a cable transmission mod for it might as well go with a 5 speed

the trans is a cable clutch, if you going to convert to MT I would wait and spend 50-100 on 92-up trans, other wise you will be converting to manual then from hydro trans to cable, to me the trans being free is not worth the other cost to get to a 4 speed manual

I've clean up the thread. Carry on, but return the discussion to the OP's question.
