3-stage VTEC solenoid and 37820-P2J ECU wiring
Recently, I got a VAFC2 for my 99' Civic, which has 3-stage VTEC and 37820-P2J ECU. I found two wires on the VTEC solenoid but only one pin for it in the ECU diagram below. (i.e. B12 in the diagram)
So my problem is how the ECU control both solenoid? Is there extra pin not stated in the diagram? or it is controlled by other mechanism? Because i don't want to loss the 3-stage feature after hooking an VAFC.

Well one vtec solenoid is to control from 12v to 16v then the second one is for vtec. The vafc would connect to the actuall vtec solenoid.

Re: 3-stage VTEC solenoid and 37820-P2J ECU wiring (hkrichard)
Any VTEC experts in the Huntington Beach/SoCal area that can
make this change and make my D15B 3 Stage Vtec motor hummmmmm????
I have the D15B 3 Stage Vtec motor fully installed in my 91 CRX Si with
the correct ecu and custom obd2 harness.

Re: (p00n)
Im in this same boat, so heres the deal.
You need to run the P2J ecu, its extremely hard to find in 5spd, although there are random ones for automatic's on ebay here and there. Running a VAFC (unless you are an accomplished computer programmer and can immitate honda's original program) Will not work for your situation.
I was one told that in theory, you could run a chipped OBD1 GSR ecu, because the GSR ecu activates both secondary butterflys as well as VTEC at different RPMs. By having a GSR ecu tuned, you can edit the first stage (12v-16v), or as the GSR ecu has it is, secondary butteryfly's, to send out the first signal to the first solonoid at its correct rpm (2800ish), and then again for normal VTEC at ~5500. I dont know of any documentation of this being done to the best of my knowledge, but in theory it would work, after having discussed it with a well-knowledged honda technician.

Re: (97Ej6mike)
I have the correct manual ECU on Ebay....its the P2J-003......His Ebay ID is JDMPRO...
Your right it took me 5 or 6 months of hunting
I am very close to getting the 3 Stage Vtec fully functional.......
the error code indicates that I need the 2 wire IACV modification.

dude, the ecu diagram that you post does not have information for the 2nd vtec wire. the B12 is usually for the vtec on other cars but this one is for VTEC-E. The wild cam VTEC is on B24 if I remember correctly. do a continuity test just to confirm.
You should also notice there is a slight wire color difference between the solenoid connectors to the harness. for the vtec-e wire is the same but for the vtec is different. it may not apply to your case but no harm having a look.
I know this coz I installed VAFC2 on my 99-00 D15B 3 stage CVT Civic too
