3 grand would be better spent on a different engine altogether. with all those miles you're bound to blow it up when you add the extra stress of a few pounds of boost. not to mention it would still be way slower then a stock b18a1, and its going to probably cost you a lot more to boost whats in there in comparison. i'd recommend putting the $3,000 towards another engine. in that price range you could do a b18b, b16a2, jdm b16a sir II, or maybe an h22a.

course you said you're busy and don't have time to do the work yourself, so in that case i'm not really sure what to recommend for you to do

eff slow motion. they're expensive as *hit. for about $2,000 you can get a b16a sirII engine and tranny from hmotors and save yourself a LOT of money. i understand you're short on time but honestly if you can save that kind of money it'd definately be worth making time to do it yourself. i mean hell for 4 grand you could easily get a jdm GSR (180hp,126tq) and have plenty of money left over, or even get a jdm ek type r b16b (185hp/117tq). but i mean if doing the swap yourself is outta the question i suppose there are only so many options you have.

yea yea yea... yea yea yea...

but seriously, either look for a new motor, d-series or b or h and put the time in to do it yourself. or use that money to buy another car and keep this one as a project.

Slowmotion Motorsports sucks. Charging someone $4000 for a [freak]ing B16 swap is absolute robbery. If I had time, I'd do it for you for pizza and beer. It takes about 4 hours start to finish once you know what you're doing.

I would do a Vitara/TunerToys build and turbo it. You could have 400whp for $3000. Check out the Forced Induction forum if you need more info or some gentle persuasion

220k+ on my d15b7 motor running 14.5s and i know would be a lot faster with a clutch and something other than a basemap...but i dont see why wasting money in a motor i dont care about

I just bought a complete GSR swap from hmotorsonline...they were extremely helpful and professional that is definitely the way to go if i were you i would either get the GSR or the ls motor swap the b16 just seemed a little to expensive for what it worth just do some research and see what looks best to you, Good Luck

wow what a rip off.. buy motor, do it yourself. learn something.

hes a noob, why would he attempt to build a motor AND turbo it AND tune it if he has looked at having a shop do the swap for him?? although you do have an awesome point.. it just isn't going to be feasable here.

OP.. best bet is a motor swap. for three grand you can easily get a b16 and hang a few parts off of it.

you may really want to consider trying to do it yourself. its not difficult and requires only basic mechanical knowledge and tools.

paying a shop is going to be expensive and 9 out of 10 shops do shitty or shady work.

Do this:

-Complete D16z6 $500
-Vitara Pistons and FJT Rods $429
-New Bearings $40
-Hot tank/hone/bore $300
-some home made turbo kit $600
-Tuning $300

and use the rest to complete the swap etc.

Man are you joking? I hate people on here who think that swaps are the ONLY way to go. For 3 grand you could have a turbocharged d-series pulling 250whp ***-raping a freakin type-R! And that's easily done. You can completely piece together a full turbo kit these days for 1500 and for the other 1500 that would get you a good rod/piston combo and some tuning. And way slower than a STOCK B18A1? Really? Check out the mag Project Car and there 7th issue. These dudes took stock D16A6 with like 100K more k's and slapped on a turbo, and it eat up a B16A VTEC.

Its not hard to swap a motor... I did a B16 swap in my old 89 CRX SI when I was 17 by myself. All I needed was an oz. of trees, and I finished in less than 2 days. I pulled the stock engine, prepped it for the B16, did the tune-up on the B16(timing belt, water pump, tensioner, plugs, wires, cap, rotor) all in the first day(saturday) Sunday, I dropped the motor in, wired the sensors, axels, shift linkage, and started it up before noon. I finished everything before 6:00 sunday night.
I drove it to work Monday morning.

If you have all the parts and tools to get it done, its easy. I didn't know nothing about swaps then, and my dad thought I would fail doing it stonned. I proved him wrong.
