2004 Civic coupe Ex automatic
I just got a automatic 04 civic coupe ex and was not my choice in getting a auto. Switching to a manual costs too much money and was wanting to spend about $500 in increasing performance. Any suggestions? It's frustrating to go automatic after driving a VW GTI VR6. What's the cheapest way to boost performance on a automatic for around $500?

in my opinion i would trade it in for a manual
but you can do basically anything to an auto that you can to a manual
so the basic intake and exhaust
and im not sure if the headers are the same or not

I think the only money worth spending on an automatic Honda would be for a sound system. But if you want something for performance... suspension. Other than that, you can go with the basic intake, header, and exhaust.

I agree partially with everyone. What kind of performance are you looking for more power, better handling? I would just do basic suspension and maybe a short ram intake. Most automatics that I've seen do better with the stock exhaust. The auto's seem to like a little backpressure.
Best bang for the buck would be to pick up a used turbo kit. Look for a set of used tokico illuminas or koni yellows with some eibach sportlines or gc's. Either of those would make the car more enjoyable to drive.
I assume you still have your crx to give you your go fast fix at the track. Just keep your new civic as your daily driver/cruiser. I never thought I would buy an automatic but I now have an accord along with my civic and I love the automatic in stop and go traffic and commuting....

You could trade in your automatic for a earlier year manual, or maybe something else like a CRX or Integra? A 2004 Civic EX must have cost a pretty penny, so you should be able to get some cash out of it.
