2002 Camry blowing white intermittent smoke out the exhaust
The car is working perfectly fine beyond that (happens about once every two weeks) and the check engine light is on. No overheating, no performance issues, no weird or muffled sounds at all. The smoke only happens first thing in the morning, and never while driving or later in the day. Check engine light will sometimes turn off, then come back on a couple days later.

Well, let start with pulling the check engine code. See what that tell you.
cold weather u will see white smoke. Normal.
This is a honda site so kinda hard to get you specific help on your Camry. Try toyotanation.com for your specific year and model.

This isn't Toyota-Tech, but since you're here, are you sure it's white? Sounds more like bad valve seals letting a little oil into the cylinders after it sits for a while.
If you think it might be burning coolant buy or rent a block tester. The fluid will change color if there is exhaust gas in the coolant.

Also condensation in the exhaust will also blow some white vapor, Especially when cold and in the morning.
The check engine light means the car is teling you theres something wrong with it.
Probably a heater going out on a O2 sensor..
