Default 2001 Civic Coupe Question...

I bought some Falken Circuit Spec 17's and some B+G springs, everything's aligned and all good... but my car seems a bit too high still

My question is... are there shocks/struts that i can purchase that will add some additional lowering to my car? Or did i just screw up, buy the wrong springs and now I should sack up and get another set that lowers the car more?

Those things will slow you down and yes when you put bigger rims on your car then it came stock it will raise it up so it's a good idea to lower it (right).

car was completely stock... all i had done was B+G springs installed and those 17" falken's...

Are you saying the heavier wheels will slow down my car? It's not exactly a race car... 2001 LX - Automatic

However, I got it VERY VERY cheap and paid cash for it, bought it from my Mom who got married and her new husband has a 2004 3 series BMW... so she didn't want her car anymore...

I'm not too much of a honda newbie, I've always enjoyed my Honda's... this one i happened to pick up as a mature choice (they suck sometimes)... I've owned a 91 crx Si, 88 CRX Si, 93 integra LS, 90 civic HB Si, and a 93 Civic LX coupe... I've done lots of exhausts and headers, intakes, plugs, plug wire type stuff... never got into anything too crazy...

The LX is very slow... I'm having a hard time figuring out what i should do with it... I'm trying to buy a condo in the next couple years so i won't be able to get into a new ride for at least a few years... in the meantime, I'd like to fix up this civic a bit more...

Any recommendations on speed upgrades... say from stock, you want to spend 2 grand and no more on speed upgrades... what would you do?

it's not the the wheels are heavy it's the diameter of them, it makes them harder to turn. 15s would be perfect with a nice drop. You might wonna look into 5spd swap (I don't know how it's done on 7th gens), it will make your car quite a bit faster and funner to drive.

Anyone got any advice on front headlamp assemblies? That amber in the corner is killing my eyes...

Any particular brands that are of good quality?

Overall Diameter of 17" rim with 205/40-17 tire = 23.46"
Overall Diameter of stock 14" rim with 185/65-14 tire = 23.47"

Just because you have a larger wheel doesn't mean that the overall diameter is larger.

It is in fact the rotational mass that has a big affect on performance. Higher rotational mass = more difficult to "turn".

It's not like a i just cut the stock springs, the car rides great, yeah, so they aren't exactly coilovers... but it the springs are done right and the alignment is perfect so my tires will wear well... this is a daily driver that I put quite a bit of mileage on, it's not a piece of crap CRX that I can throw 2.5 degrees of camber on and say screw it...

thanks for the advice anyway...

the springs are rated at 1.6 inch drop... I'm hoping they settle a bit... i think 2 inches or 2.2 would have been perfect...

Anyone have any thougths on the magnaflow exhausts for an LX?

I had a 2001 Civic Coupe. I found that most "performance" coilovers for that car wont give you the drop that you will probably want in the front. For instance, I had TEIN SS coilovers on mine. I had less that an finger gap in the back, and about a finger and a half in the front. The only coilovers that you are going to want to give you a nice drop is either going to be Ground Control coilovers, or coilovers made for the RSX-S, such as JIC FLT-A2's. Springs and shocks alone wont give you the drop you are probably looking for.
