2000 EX tranny fit 2000 DX?
Will a 2000 EX Civic transmission fit into a 2000 DX?
I have a 2000 Civic DX and I think I did some major internal damage to the 5-speed manual tranny. Don’t laugh, but I accidentally tried shifting into reverse (when stopped) without pushing in the clutch. Instead of grinding the gear, it made a loud “bang”. The car still runs and shifts fine, but it makes a rattling noise inside the tranny only when I push in the clutch when moving in reverse.
I think it could be the linkage or even a gear, but really I am not quite sure. Any ideas?
Rather than trying to fix the existing transmission, I planned to just swap in a new tranny. Or would it be cheaper to try and have the transmission fixed? I am selling the car and just need the rattling noise to go away.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If you are selling the car I would just throw in another dx tranny they are normally cheaper. Either will fit. If you planned on keeping the car the ex tranny is probably the best and most cost effective mod you could do to improve performance
damn that was quick I was typing and clicked post and bam someone already answered your question..

Wow. Thanks for the quick feedback.
I think I can get my hands on a cheap EX tranny. Since I am selling, is $400 a good price or do you think I could get a DX tranny cheaper? Will the old tranny be worth anything (parts, etc.)

$400 is way too much. you can buy a whole D-series motor for around $400. Y8 tranny should cost around $200

Gabe, we have these things that we measure time by, they're called YEARS. Repeat it with me buddy, YEARS.
The 92-00 refers in shorthand to the years 1992 to 2000. Those are the production years of the cars he's talking about.
Hope this clears it up for ya there Mustang boy.
