Default 2000 civic si w/b20b speedo problem

So I drive to work today and notice that it is saying my speed is 20. When I start the car the speedometer goes up to 20mph when the car is idle. I just recently got the car and never paid attention to the speedometer. I did try to find the speedomoeter on the trany and the harness is really loose. Loose to the point that I can lift it right off without even touching the harness connector. Would this cause it to just stay at 20mph. I figured it would not work at all if it was not connected. I also am fairly new to the engine area, but I think I have the correct location. The guy that did the swap in this car left a lot of harnesses just dangling so im a little confused on whats what. If anyone has any input it would help. Thanks. If anyone lives in nj and wouldnt mind helping me out too I could throw some 08 SI rims your way if we get this thing going. Its my dd and my girl is gonna be pissed that I bought a car that already has issues. Oh yeah the check engine light did come on while I was driving. When I turned it off and back on it went away so I could hook up reader to get code.

First things first we need to know what ecu you are running, also im sure the connectors you are talking about are the vtec connectors next to the distributor. And then theres also the iat sensor that is suppose to plug into the intake tube, maybe thats one of the sensors. Just take some pics for me man. I got an si as well with a b20 swap as well.

will post pics when i get back home tuesday morning. I think I found the correct speedo sensor. It is located on the trany on the passenger side and it is attached with what looks like a bolt that is off to the side of it. The connector sticks up about 2 inches. The connector on it is not snapping in. I will take pics still of what I see. How do I find out what ecu is running and it is located on the passenger side up under the floor mat area? Being I bought the car as is I do not know what he is using and what he did besides what I can see. There is a large blue connector harness that is not attached to anything. It is towards the back, just to the left of the alternator you can see it hanging there.

Take pics bro, can't do anything here without seeing what you are looking at. And get something to point at it or photoshop an arrow or something. Peace out late bump.

I am going to be taking pictures today after work. I was curious though if it might be the cluster and not the speedo. The reason is the odometer does not change. Would this change if the speedo was not working? I dont remember where but I read that if the speedo is not working and the odometer is not changing then it is a cluster problem. If the speedo is not hooked up though wouldnt the car think that it is not moving?

Here are the pics I took. Let me know if you have these loose on your b20 swap so I can try to understand this a little better. Also the check engine light came on again. I hooked up the reader but it says no link. Is there another spot to read the code? I dont know what this guy did

Well your running the wrong ecu, the first pics i wouldnt worry about because it comes like that. After looking at the harness twice that doesnt look like a civic si harness. Could be a regular civic ex harness.
