Default 2000 civic ex D16Y8 into a 1998 civic ex.

I'm sure there is somewhere that I can search and find the answer to this but I've been looking for a few minutes and can't find the answer to my question so I figured I'd make a post.

I have two honda civic Ex's. One is a 1998 and the other is a 2000. I know that the 96-98 are OBD2A and the 99-00 are OBD2B. I'm planning on pulling the motor from my 2000 civic and putting it into my 1998 because the 98 has a bad motor and the 2000 is going to be getting a B series swap in the next few weeks.

My question is this... Will I be able to just have a direct swap or are there actual different plugs on the motors them selves? I know that the ECU plug is different and I suspect that there are no other differences on the engine but I just wanted to be sure.

Thanks!

May I ask the difference in the dizzy from the 98 and the 00?

Instead of doing two swaps.....why not do the b-series swap into the '98 and keep the '00 the way it is??? Unless of course you have all the time in world.

99-00 y8 has air injection so you'll need to use the intake manifold from the 98.

Two reasons. I MAY keep the 2000. The 1998 is going to be sold for sure. Also, the 98 is Automatic and the 2000 in manual. The B series swap I have is manual so less work that way.

I would pull the 00 engine and remove everything from the head and use the parts from the 98 blown engine such as the dizzy, intake manifold etc so its a direct swap plug and play.

After reading all of this I decided that is exactly what I'd do. Thanks
