1st time stranded ever...92' Civic
Hello,
So yesterday I got to experience being stranded for the first time...at least with a Honda. I have a 1992 Civic LX sedan that I use as my daily beater car. I always maintain the car very well. However, yesterday out of the blue the car lets me down. So before I start tearing into things I wanted to get your thoughts.
Here is the issue. Yesterday I am leaving work. I put the key in the ignition and turn it to the on position. After a second or two I try to crank the engine...I hear a pop, then all the electrical is dead. Nothing works, its like I disconnected the battery.
So I went under the hood, checked all fuses, wiggled the battery wires a bit...everything seemed normal. I went back in and turned the key again. Now the lights, radio and everything worked. I turn the key more to start the car..."pop" and everything electrical is dead again.
I repeated this a few times and with the help of a friend determined the pop was coming from the started. So i am thinking the starter is shot, but that should not kill all the electical things on the car.
Maybe the battery? Main relay?
Any thoughts would be appreciated before I start spending money.

listen to see if you fuel pump is priming. Put your key in and then listen for three clicks, it sounds like a main relay, but that should not turn the power to everything else off. I will need help from other H-t members because I am not 100% on this one
