I turn key and 8th gen civic does not even crank.Turn key second time car starts up.
I have a 09 civic GX. Been having problems of being stranded of what I thought was the battery being drained by an accessory. Kept getting jump starts and car would be good for a month. Then the same thing again. Finally purchased a new battery and the next morning the car would not start. Read up and checked for possible causes. In the end I replaced the starter, ignition switch and relays. Finally today after replacing the battery again the car is running. BUT I need to turn the key twice for the car to crank and turn on. On the initial turn all lights come up but no crank or any other noise. The second time I turn the key the car turns on in seconds. Why does it do this? Battery, relays and starter are from Honda. The ignition switch is from O’Reilly. Any help or advice would be appreciated

Alternator tested good. Have new ignition cylinder switch in. I turn the key to start the car, electrical is on, but no crank for 3 seconds, then the vehicle cranks and starts.

I would check grounds since its intermittent.
clean them, tighten them, add more.
had the ECU ever gotten wet or messed with?

ECU has never been wet. As far as grounding do you recommend anything other than the negative battery cable?

definetly clean the neg on battery and tighten.
there is a ground on yoru intake/valve cover. transmission and one should be near the crank. more never hurts but helps
