Default 1996 Civic Hatch - Progress Thread

Making this thread to follow the progress of my 96 Civic hatch. I picked it up last summer for a reasonable price it was completely stock besides no name racing seats and a Greddy muffler. I plan on getting something better than a phone camera by Christmas. I decided to do the interior and suspension first on this car
since i tinkered with the engine first on my accord i hope you enjoy.

About a week after i got it i decided to do a trans service and replace the battery for it. The blue and black hatches are mine as well. The black one i received form a classmate after he totaled my car i plan on gutting it and was going to do a j32 swap on it but the scrapyard sent the engine to the shredder before i finished pulling it. The blue ended up getting hit in the quarter panel so im just going to use it for extra parts as well.

I basically just used it to drive back and forth to work on and also play around with a bit on those days you leave for work last minute. It has about a 178k on it so the suspension is seen better days; the body roll is terrible. I also got a carbon fiber hood on it for 150 bucks just a VIS butt and stupid concrete trucked backed into it pouring in front of my driveway. I ended up blowing the engine up in it on the way to work one day. It was very cold but so dry it caused a fire but managed to put it out before it toasted the car.
So it collected dirt outside my work for about six months and i picked up an e46 323i for 1000 bucks with 246k miles from a buddy i used to work with. I ll post pics of it later im using my buddies labtop to start this thread so bare with me a bit.

Alright, so you are using your buddies LAPTOP to post. I get it.

So how are you going to fix the scratches on the hood? Maybe sand the hood down and spray clear on it, or just go with clear+silver for a ghost CF paint job?

I picked up some progress CS II 350 up front and 350 rear and a new OEM seibon hood as well.
For my bushings i decided to go moog since i get them cheaper than hard race bushings and their made in Japan
I also pulled the civic from the mud to pull it in the shop.

I decided im going to do a mild tuck on it clean up the bay and drive it for a while and source the fuel and brake line tuck over time. The bay cleaned up pretty good as well. Im relocating the battery to the rear and as for moog parts i got inner and outer tie rods, front arm bushings, rear trailing arm bushing and lower ball joints

Got some snap on tools to help do the job and decided the dark grey interior in my black 98 hatch would look better plus this would be a good time to lay down some sound deading in the panels

Gotta clean up the small amount of surface rust i decided for the outside that i would use spray on bedliner under the panels and it makes a great sound deaden-er.

I got the f20b out of my accord i plan on swapping it for f2b with a/c one of these days. Got a few performance parts for my d series as well like a volvo turbo srp pistons and eagle rods blox intake exedy flywheel dsm injectors and a few other mods ill post up i might end up selling to get back on my f20b project.

First non related post: I been an automotive tech by trade for two years. (Im 23) so that leads me to get to work on some pretty cool stuff. I mainly specialize in A/C but for a while it was just me working on all the cars at the small private owned business where i work. A few random pics of things i tinkered around with. Swapped an F20b into a prelude the H motors engine was in amazing condition when we received it compared to my Tiger Japanese great customer service to even my 63 year old boss who loves the old school stuff enjoys doing business with them so i recommend the to anyone. The honda CBX we just servicing for the guy to sale. Hondas old bikes scoot compared to the competition back in the day. Our shop takes great pride in our service. I hate how those fifteen minute oil change place say they check every fluid and half the time i check oil changes from other place it usually consist of little to no oil in the pan or too much especially walmart. We check every single fluid the car has all the tires all the filters and top off as needed plus check the suspension components and test drive if needed they usually take me thirty minutes compared to fifteen.

also working on cars for a living gives me access to cores like i got the h22a4 engine that was in the lude and 90 compression on cylinder 1. We service it regularly it had 383000 miles. Not bad for FRM lined sleeves. I ll probably end up selling it. Shoot i might even give it away to a member or something for some tech help along the road. I also got an LS 1 block sitting around

I'm not really much experienced in body work. I've done a lot of research into it and read something about the gel coating on them. I'm planning on getting a day carbon kit and wrapping a few parts in it. I'll probably end up plastic dipping the roof and paying someone to spray the 2000 front bumper. I want to paint it the same color as my e46 if I ever learn.
