Default 1994 civic ex cam shavings?

I had two bent valves on my d16z6 so i replaced them myself and when i pulled the rocker arms off and the cam their was shavings in the center of the head and not sure what its called but what the cam sits on was a bit rough why is that? isn't their suppose to be cam bearings? and to smooth it out some can i take a really fine sand paper and lightly sand the rough parts?

No there are no removable bearings, the cam sits in holders molded into the head. The valve/spring failure was probably the cause of damage to your cam shaft. Did you red-line your motor or something? Timing belt slip?

The cam holder journals should be smooth, but removing metal from them will change the tolerance. There is a tolerance for cam to cam holder in your manual. If you exceed that tolerance you'll need a new head.

the guy i bought it from was knocking and after driving it a bit BAM a rod shot out the side and bent the intake valves on #2 cylinder so i swap in a d15b7 block and replaced the valves myself, but those two valves could have cause the cam journals to be rough? and no i haven't red lined it nor did the belt slip, i guess i better start looking for a manual.

most likely not but i would highly recomend getting the head hot tanked (25 bux)or take it apart and soak it and clean it up real well.

So imagine this: The valves made contact with the piston and were bent, at the same time the connecting rod was trying to push the piston up to the top of the cylinder but the valves were in the way, and BAM goes the connecting rod out the side of the block.

Now your cam shaft is still trying to do it's job of depressing the damaged/bent valves in time with the rest of the engine, but there's a piston there blocking the travel of the valves, which are probably not fully closed because they are bent. The camshaft is going to absorb that energy somehow. Probably pushing the piston back a little, and digging into your cam holder, and consider this happening multiple times as the failed engine spins down and finally dies.

It's a very sad story. The head still may be okay, can you post some pics of the damaged cam holder & cam lobes?

all the journals look just like the one on the first pic and the cam feels fine, theirs only one scratch on the center of the cam journal and its a bit rough on the journal behind the cam gear

i dunno that one journal looks awfully scratched looks like that's where the shavings come from.

Just get another head. They're like $100 or so. The only other solution is getting it line bored. They'd grind a little off the cam caps, bolt them down, then run a hone through the holes again, which would clean it up. But then you'd have more work in it than it's worth.
