cam will not rotate WTF
okay so here is the story I bought this HX 99/with stock Y5 not running. It would rotate fine but no compression. I determined the cam pulley spun free damaging the end of the cam and bending valves. I pulled the head and swapped it out for another(y5 head). I used the lifters from the old/original head )w/new valves and seals. I put it all back together and when I torque the lifter train down to spec the camshaft will not move. I have tried many times pulling valvetrain and reinstalling and everytime the same result no movement. I can move cam back and forth a few teeth right before I completely tighten the valvetrain. I have even tried backing off lifters completely and no change??? I'm ready to use it to roast marsh mellows. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I need to do to get this thing to work? Thanks for you help the wife wants it out of the garage, now.....
We don't have lifters, we have rocker arms. I THINK you're referring to the cam caps. Those are what you torque down to hold the cam in place. You can't RELIABLY use cam caps from one head on another without having them line honed. Sometimes it will work out okay but it should ALWAYS be honed to ensure everything lines up properly. That's why the caps are numbered also so you can make sure they ALL go back in the same exact spot they came from.
If you used the cam caps from the old head on the new one you can probably reassemble the valve train with the cam caps that came on the new one and be fine.

ok thanks for the info and yeah its the caps, I'll try to reconstruct the caps from the head I got bolted down on it they came in a box. The original head was there and ready so that's why I used that. Thanks for the input, I'll put it together tomorrow hopefully with a better result.
