1993 Ls In 1992 Civic Lx
What is the best tranny for a 1993 Integra Ls motor.I would like to use a b16 tranny but I might seddle for something else.What is the big dif betwen the Ls,Gsr,and Sir trannys.Also with Ls motor with Ls tranny with basic bolt on Intake,Exhaust,Clutch mild fuel set up,Ignition set up ETC. How would I run up against a Mild modifed Gsr or Civic si

here are a few B series gear ratios. note that since your engine is a cable tranny, you won't be able to use a hydro tranny. the s1/j1 found on jdm B16s is a great tranny to go with. whatever the code is for a DA GSR...that is also an excellent tranny.
to find your total gear reduction, multiply the a selected gear ratio by the final drive. my gsr tranny (.787 5th gear) had my engine turn 3.5k rpms on the highway at 70 mph. my friend's s1 tranny (.906 5th gear) has his engine turn about 4.5k rpms at the same speed. thats a difference of .119. final drive is the same. however, his tires were 185/60/14s (22.74" diameter) and mine were 195/55/15 (23.44" diameter), so take that into consideration. a stock civic has a 22.74" tire diameter also. so with the S1/J1 tranny and the same tire size, you'd turn about 4.5k RPM on the highway. the LS crank isn't very well balanced from the factory, so keep that in mind. people do use this setup without problems tho. but it prob won't last as long as if you used an LS tranny. it might be worth it to you, it might not be. the DA GSR tranny would be slightly more aggressive in underdrive gears, but would turn less RPM on the highway, which is a good thing imo. if it were me, i'd go with the DA GSR tranny (i wish i knew the code for it).

The motor is going into a 92 Civic. He will be using a Hydro tranny.

The LS crank is balanced just as well as any other Honda crank out there. Not one machined part from the factory is going to be out of balance. That wouldn't even make sence. That would mean every LS would be shattering oil pumps, spinning bearings, etc all the time. My LS has taken more abuse than any of my other motors and held up awesome
The motor is going into a 92 Civic. He will be using a Hydro tranny.

the LS is less balanced from the factory than is a GSR or B16 crank, just like a GSR crank is less balanced from the factory than an ITR crank, just like a b16 crank is less balanced from the factory than a CTR crank. it'll still hold up, but that doesn't mean its just as balanced. i didn't say they weren't balanced, i said they were less balanced. if they weren't balanced at all, yeah, every LS would throw bearings, etc, whatever you said.

Sorry, I must have misread you. However, balancing is not the issue at all. The LS stock crank is fine under boost, revving, etc with any tranny.

i agree, i think the B16 or DA GSR tranny will be fine. it will provide much better acceleration than will the LS tranny. but i dunno if the motor would run so great after 150k miles of run time with that tranny, thats all i mean. but if it isn't beat on real bad, it might work as a long-term setup. but the objective here is fun, so my vote is for the DA GSR tranny.
